1851 22nd March. This evening about 5 p.m. messenger JOHNSON came to the knowledge of the fact of (363) ELISA FRANCES [actually Elias Francis] per "Earl Grey" having attempted suicide by cutting his throat with a scythe in the Tool House near the Engineers Office. He is taken to hospital and Free Constable on duty over him – he has the appearance of a maniac.
