"Frederick William Francis was born 8 April 1814 in Rochester, Kent. Convicted for theft of poultry. In 1846 he left Tasmania for Melbourne, with partner Mary Frances Jarvis and her two children, one of whom was Edward Frederick David Francis. Fred and Mary married in 1857 and raised 4 or 5 children. He died at Moorooduc on 31 Dec 1864, aged 50."
