Dorchester Lent Assizes were not terminated till late on Saturday night of the 14th instant. The following prisoners received sentences as under :— ... William Francis, for burglary; ... received sentence of death. Salisbury Journal, 23 Mar 1818.

Magazines (Reel 6016; 4/5781 p.88) 1822 Feb - On return of work performed by sawyers at Pennant Hills from 3 Dec 1821 to 1 Feb 1822 (Reel 6054; 4/1759 p.120) --------------------------------------------------- William Francis spent time as Moreton Bay, but seems to have gone there as prisoner with specialised skills, not due to a Colonial sentence. Moreton Bay Prisoner Register. No 2. William Francis, per Gen. Stuart, tried at Dorset 12 Mar1818, Life. Trade- Sawyer. No details of any Colonial Conviction. To Sydney 9 Oct 1826. Description: Wm. Francis, native of Dorsetshire, age 30, 5 ft 7 ¼. fair comp, fair hair, grey eyes. ------------------------------------------------- Colonial Secretary Correspondence.
