At the Bedford Assizes, the prisoners received their sentences as follows: … George Lacey, for a burglary, and George Baskerfield, Richard Franks. for being accessaries after the fact, Seven Years' Transportation. Northampton Mercury, 20 Mar 1819.

Richard Franks was 18 years old when convicted of being an "Accessory after a burglary". Richard was 5'3 1/2" tall, dark brown hair, fresh complexion, native place was Shefford, Bedfordshire. 30/10/1819: On list of convicts forwarded to Liverpool for distribution. 1825 Servant of T Hay of Liverpool: Attestation as to his character for a TOL. 1825: TOL, Wilberforce 14/6/1833: COF 6/8/1832: Married Hannah Cronin (Kains 1830)at the Church of England, Richmond. They had about 4 children and lived in the Jugiong/Gundagai district. Richard and his son Richard Jnr., were farmers around Jugiong and both acquired land in the area. No date of death found for Richard. Hannah died in September 1896, she had suffered from rheumatic gout for 30 years and 16 years of opthalmia which had also left her blind.
