Michael Frawley was transported on the Surrey Or Surry, departing 9th Jan 1836 and arriving 17th May 1836 with 108 passengers.

Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

_____________________________________________ Michael FRAWLEY was a married father, aged 60, tried at Tipperary in June 1835 and given a 7 year sentence of transportation for stealing a shirt. He arrived on "SUrrey" in January 1836, He should not be confused with Michael Fowlue tried at Co Kerry who arrived on the same ship. SHIP INDENT DETAILS: Convict; Aged: 60 years , no education, Roman Catholic, Married with Four children, being two boys and two girls, Born at County Limerick, Soldier and labourer; Crime: Stealing shirt; Tried at Tipperary, 22 June 1835; Sentence: 7 years; Previous convictions: None; Height: 5ft 8 inches; Complexion: dark sallow; Hair: brown mixed with grey; Eyes: grey; Marks or Scars: B D F J F M F inside lower right arm 1842 Ticket of Leave - Ticket of Leave Number: 42/0616 Allowed to remain in the District of Port Macquarie He is probably the Michael Frawley whose death was registered in 1851, and recorded as being aged 76 years since the ages on the ship indent and on death completely align.
