In 1799 Simon was involved in the murder of two Indigenous children named Little George and Little Jemmy: “Simon Freebody, who had earlier offered a drink of water to one of the lads, now killed Little George ‘by thrusting a Cutlas [sic] into him,’”. The other Hawkesbury settlers involved in this atrocity include Edward Powell, William Timms, William Butler, Thomas Sambourne, John Pearson, and Bishop Thompson (possibly Robert Forrester involved also)
