HO 17/67/101826 1 individual petition (the prisoner and the prosecutor) on behalf of Edwin Froom, a looking glass manufacturer, convicted at Surrey Lent Assizes held at Kingston upon Thames in 1826 of stealing in a dwellinghouse, the property of Mr Welch of Camberwell. Grounds for clemency: excellent character. Honest and sober. Led into trouble by others who were older than him. Lost his father so no-one to control or check him. 15 years of age. Mother extremely distressed. Initial sentence: Death commuted to transportation for life. Annotated:' Nil.' ML10




Prison Hulk ship Justitia moored in Woolwich, Received 14 Apr 1826 from Kingston Upon Thames, aged 16, Offence Burglary, transferred for transportation 15 April 1826 All these men were tried 13 March 1826 at Kingston on Thames Ass's for Burglary (Henry Sharp for Arson), transferred to the Hulk ship Justitia & then transported together (Thomas Smith, George Shirley, James Norman, Henry Wood, James Spencer, William Phillips, Edward Froom, Henry Sharp, John Edmunds)




Edward Froom was convicted at Surry Assize with John Yates on 13 March 1826. On 9 August 1830 Froom arrived in Moreton Bay after being convicted of a further offence at Darlington NSW (see The Campbelltown Convicts).
