Elizabeth's mother sailed from Portsmouth England 26 May 1849 aboard "William Jardine" with four grown up children arriving Sydney Cove 24 September 1849 & then by paddle steamer "Eagle" to Moreton Bay. For a few months family stayed at immigrant barracks at Parramatta, after arriving at Moreton Bay while trying to locate James Snr, the family stayed at a boarding house at Grey Street South Brisbane run by Thomas Mather's mother (who married Elizabeth's sister Martha). Neighbours to Mather's boarding house were John & Charlotte Cecil who witnessed their marriages. Her brother James Jnr was a lumper (wharf labourer) for Mr Conley who owned the wharf on the southside of the Brisbane River between present dry dock & bridge, He later went up Logan River picking up fleeces and wool pressing. William FRY met up with them during this time & after marrying, together with Mathers/Partridge families moved to Darling Downs Residence: 1852 Darling Downs - Oct 1852 at Eton Vale Station, Oct 1853 at Gowrie Station, Jan 1956 at Drayton Swamp (labourer), Dec 1857 Toowoomba (bush carpenter) children: 1.
