In the Nov 1828 census he was one of only five landholders at Dural. He held 60 acres, noted as 'Fuller's Farm', of which 20 were cleared and cultivated, with 1 horse and 8 horned cattle. He had with him his wife and three of his four children, he signed the return with his mark. The farm appears to be where Fullers Road now runs west from Old Northern Road just south of Dural. Edward was a convict. He was a labourer, late of the Parish of Chevening in Kent. ON the night of 26 Jun 1805 he stole a mare, valued at 30 pounds, the property of Arthur Taylor, a farmer of Battle. Court records differ as to where he stole the horse. Battle or Chevening, but it seems likely it was from Battle and that Edward rode the horse back to Chevening after visiting his family. He was sentenced to hang. On 28 Aug 1805 Edward's death sentence was commuted to transportation for life to New South Wales. On 5 Nov 1805, aged 21, he was received onto the hulk 'Prudentia' docked at Woolwich on the Thames. On 28 Jan 1806 the ship 'Fortune' departed England and arrived in the colony on 12 Jul 1806, a voyage of 165 days. 4 of the convicts on board died. The 1806 Muster of Prisoners was taken at the Court House at Parramatta on 12 Aug 1806, one month exactly after Edward's arrival in the colony. It records Edward per 'Fortune' as a Prisoner with 'Mr McArthur' at Parramatta. He is also noted in the 1811 muster.
