The death is,. announced of two of old colonists namely Mr Samuel Bellamy Holman and his wife, Hannah Jelaima Holman. Mr Holman was born in North ampton in 1813, and after serving an apprentice,-iip to the tailoring trade, en listed in the 21st Fusiliers, and early in the thirties arrived with his regiment in Sydney. After serving in that colony for a time he came with his regiment to Tis mania, and was stationed at Port Arthur, and gained consideiable prominence in the pait he took in the cpture of the notorious bushronger Sheedy, a prominent character in." His Natural Life," under the now de. plume of Gabbett. Deceased was then sent to Launceston, and made himself par ticularly energetic in the capture of bushrangers who at that time overran the country. Amongst other aptures made by him was that of Britton, whilst he was concerned in chasing the brig Frederick, which was seized by a party of convicts at Macquarie Harbour, and taken to the coast of California. He was very fond of relating incidents in the early history of Tasmania, and could remember many dark deeds in connection with the colony. He remained in the Tasmanian military eight years, and subsequently entered into the tailoring business, at which trade he wae engaged at the time of death. For years past he had been connected with church work. In 1837 he married Hannah Fuller, and for the last 53 years the pair lived happ.ily. and comfortably. Holman died at his late residence on Sunday last, aged 77 years. Eis partner in life, who had been invalided for the past four years, on being acquainted of the death of her husband expressed a desire to see his remains. She was carried into the room where the body lay, and after viewing it was carried back, but never spoke a word afterwards, passing quietly away in 24 hours at the age of 74. The remains of deceased were interred to-day, the eortlne being a large one.
