John married Ann Radford ( free-woman immigrant ) 12.06.1837 in St. Mary's Chapel Campbell Town Van Diemans Land ( Tasmania ). They had a total of 12 children. They met working for a farming / settler Mr. Wm. Young in the Lakes District ( near Cressy ) in Tasmania. There is a factional novel called "Leatherwood Honey for Gall" by Mary Redropp of their reasons for, and arrival in, Australia. 7 children were born in Launceston, of which only 3 survived, the remaining children were born in Geelong and the Warrnambool district of Victoria after arriving in Victoria aboard "The Shamrock" on the 21st Sep., 1846. Ann was born in Blagdon, Winscombe, Somerset England in 1814 and died at age 94 on the 24th Sep. 1908 in Warrnambool. They were buried in an unmarked grave in Warrnambool Cemetery until a group of descendants erected headstones for them and other members of their family in 23.03.2013 initiated by one of their descendants Mrs June Horner (nee Gall). Their descendants to this day still farm the Warrnambool / Mepunga / Allansford district of Western Victoria.
