3/1/1840 Leicester Journal Leicestershire, England: LEICESTERSHIRE QUARTER SESSIONS William Gamble, 17, was charged with killing an ewe sheep on the 21st of December, the property of Richard Rowe, of Rothley. Guilty.__The prisoner was also indicted for stealing half a dozen silver spoons, two silk handkerchiefs, and about £3 4s. 6d. the property of John Dent, of Rothley, on the 22nd of December.__15 years transportation. William Gamble was born in Leicester town. 24/10/1848: TOL 12/8/1850: CP 5/4/1853: Passenger per 'Vixen' Launceston to Melbourne. Free by Servitude. 20/2/1854: Married Mary Roberts at Great Swanport, Tasmania. William a farmservant, Mary a minor. (Mary Ann Gamble died 23/12/1875 aged 42 at Glamorgan. Children: 30/11/1855: Ellen 31/5/1857: Mary Ann 14/11/1859: Stephen 24/12/1862: John 21/6/1865: Lydia 17/10/1867: William 16/12/1871: Charles 22/12/1875: Male, name not recorded. 22/12/1875: Male, name not recorded. Mary Ann Gamble died the next day. 26/12/1879: William Gamble married Emma Jones - Emma was 57 and William 51 - married at Glenmorgan. 31/12/1898: William Gamble died at Glamorgan, aged 77, of Retention of urine and collapse. Listed as a farmer at Swansea.
