Family connections for Samuel (Garside) are: GARSIDE Samuel (Garside) was born about 1757. He had a first marriage in England. He was tried for theft of woollen cloth from his employer at York Assizes Yorkshire, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 2 1792 after a voyage of 8.5months on PITT. He married secondly Sarah (Turner) on 14 8 1796 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. He was Free by Servitude when he died on 13 11 1824 age67 at Richmond, father of 1known child, & was buried at St Peters CofE Richmond - he was recorded in 1825 as Samuel (Garsides) deceased. In the colony, Samuel married Sarah Turner (Convict, Indispensible, 1796). They married in 1796 at Sydney. Samuel and Sarah had 1 child, a son Samuel, born 1798.




Samuel was convicted for stealing 30 yards of woollen cloth from his employer. He appears to have left a wife in England because the court records indicate that one of the witnesses attesting to his good character was his wife, who said that he wouldn't have done it if he hadn't have been drunk.
