from 1869 until his death convicted of a number of crimes, including theft, vagrancy and disorderly conduct in DUNEDIN NZ. His wife (who was Mary Gilligan married 1857 in Tasmania but in dunedin called Ellen) was also arrested for theft, drunkeness, obscene language and assaulting a constable . children included Mary Ann, patrick, Thomas all sent to industrial school and John who was sent to industrial school but escaped, convicted of thefts and a rape of a child.
