Prisoner discharged from Gaol, week ending 20 & 24 April 1872. From New Norfolk, George Byrne alias James Gay, per Equestrian 2, F.S., tried at S.C. Launceston on the 11 Feb 1869, for larceny in a dwelling house, served 4 years, native place is Somersetshire, age 43 yrs, 5 feet 9 1/4 inches high, dark brown hair, pockmarks on breast. Tasmania Police Gazette, 26th Apr 1872, p71.
