Although he escaped and there is no record of his recapture, there is no evidence he died in England There is no record for the baptism of Emma Mary Bulpit and no birth certificate. When she married, George Henry Bulpit is on the certificate as her father. He was her brother, George Snr. only had one christian name. Emma Mary was my great grandmother.I am still searching for information about them both.

George Henry Bulpit was 20 years old when transported. George was 5'8" tall, dark sallow and freckled complexion. 5/9/1838: Aged 22 Absconded from James Caswell since 16 August. George married in Wiltshire in 1834 to Sophia Maria Stride (Born 1812). They had George Henry Bulpit, born 13/9/1835. There are reports that George Snr. went back to England in 1842-43, which is probable as they then had Emma Mary Bulpit. Born 1844 and died 21/1/1911. She married Henry Thomas Sherman. Sophia Maria Bulpit married for the 2nd time to Thomas Smith, although I found no death date for George Snr. George Henry Bulpit Jnr. arrived in Australia with his wife Ann Sussannah Bulpit nee Atkinson in 1866 on the Netherby, which was wrecked at King Island, both survived and George Jnr. died in 1891. Ann remarried in Melbourne in 1879 so perhaps they were divorced.
