Place of origin: Haughley, Suffolk Burglary & stealing a watch 1856 - Marriage. 31 Jan 1853 George Manning aged 27 years old Caroline Hill aged 126 years old Parish Church, Longford 1855 - Birth; Emily Agnes Manning. 16 June 1855 George's occupation; Overseer. Abode; Cressy 1864 - Murder. George Manning. Farm Overseer. Aged; 39 years old. Feloniously and unlawfulled killed and slain by Henry Irwin and that Jane Irwin and Edward Barney aided and abettd to. HOBART' TOWN AND, THE SOUTH. MURDER.- Intelligence reached town last evening of a murder committed in the interior under the following circumstances:- A young man named George Manning, the mananger of the Lake Station of Mr. W. R. Allison, M.H.A., was present at the sale of the Hunterston Estate on Thursday last, and afterwards, as is believed, remained drinking with some persons at a house in the neighborhood. This house he is said to have left quarreling with his companions, and the next morning he was found in the bush, having been murdered with the spike or tyne of a harrow, which was found near the body. The under-shepherd and some of the shearers have been taken into custody in connection with this fearful crime. We may add that the deceased was very much respected by his master, and that he has left a wife and four young children 1865 -Queen's Orphan School. Application for admission 25 April 1865.
