Margaret GEORGE (also k/a COSTELLO) was convicted at Dublin on 19 June 1850 for robbery - stealing shoes. Previous convictions. 10yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Blackfriar' arriving 29 May 1851. Aged 30yrs; married; 1 child; laundress; Roman Catholic. Native Place - Co. Wicklow Stated her husband was a convict in Bermuda (?William George). Brothers - James, John, Pat Mother - Margaret Work services in the Colony. 1852: Application to marry - Joseph Smith (transported per 'Marion'). 20 Aug 1852: Letter from her husband at Bermuda sent to her, c/- Female Factory, Cascades, Hobart. 15 Aug 1852: Delivered of a female child, Christina - at the Female Factory, Hobart. 6 Feb 1855: Application for permission to marry: John Smith (transported per 'Jupiter').
