Departed Portsmouth, England on 29 July 1789, via Cape of Good Hope for Port Jackson, New South Wales, Australia on 3 June 1790. 1790 voyage carried 226 female passengers (convicts)- 5 of whom died on the trip. 6 children also on board. Significant because it was the first ship to bring all female women to the Colony.

Family connections for Ann (Gibson) are: GIBSON Ann (Gibson) was born in 1767. She was tried for robbery at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 3 6 1790 after a journey of 12months on Fleet ship LADY JULIANA-a ship with 228females who easily entertained the whole crew & also sailors at Teneriffe stopover; she was sent straight on to Norfolk Island on 1/7 8 1790 on SURPRISE. She married Edward (Risby his second marriage) on 17 11 1791 in group ceremony (one source has 1794) on Norfolk Island & produced 7children. She is recorded as sentence expired on stores on Norfolk Island in February 1805. On 3 9 1808 she went to Derwent Tasmania with her family as part of the first evacuation on CITY OF EDINBURGH, arriving on 5 10 1808; to Argyle Derwent Valley. She is recorded as off stores at Hobart Town on 2 10 1818. [Some details taken from this Website] Edward (Risby/ey/eby) was born in 1755 & became a weaver. He married firstly Hannah (Manning) in 1777 & produced 3children. He was tried for stealing cloth at Gloucester Gloucestershire on 24 3 1784, sentenced to 7years, held on CENSOR hulk on River Thames & arrived in NSW as a convict on 22 1 1788 after a journey of 12months on First Fleet ship ALEXANDER. He was put to work as sawyer on HMS SIRIUS & transported to Norfolk Island, arriving on 17 3 1790 (the date of its sinking on reef near Kingston Pier Slaughter Bay). He was issued his Certificate of Freedom 1n 1791 & a grant of 12acres at Town Creek Greenville Vale. He is recorded as being a weaver before 1794. He is recorded with 12acres on plot no.22 in the middle of the island near Kingston in 1796. He is recorded as a Free by Servitude servant on Norfolk Island in February 1805. On 3 9 1808 he went to Derwent Tasmania with his family as part of the first evacuation (for which volunteers apparantly had been called with appropriate compensation offerred & for which he may have tried to decline as some successful farmers were asked to stay) on CITY OF EDINBURGH, arriving on 5 10 1808; where he was later granted 30acres at Argyle Derwent Valley. He is recorded as on stores at Hobart Town on 2 10 1818. He died on 6 2 1823 age 68 father of 10children. Sent to Norfolk Island on the Surprize on 1 Aug 1790, 5 weeks after arriving in Sydney. Married to Edward RISBY on 17 Nov 1791 at Norfolk Island, probably by Rev. Richard JOHNSON but records of that time are assumed lost. They had 7 children - Thomas b. 30 Jan 1792; Susannah b. 13 May 1796; Joseph b. 20 May 1800, d. 1 Nov 1863; Benjamin b. 25 Sep 1801, d. 24 Dec 1875; Charles b. 6 Sep 1804, d. 25 Mar 1805; Edward b. 1810; Hannah b. 1 Mar 1794, d. 20 Jun 1795. Edward and Ann RISBY (need Gibson) were allocated Plot #22 of 12 acres on Town Creek, Grenville Vale on Norfolk Island which they farmed (somewhat unsuccessfully) until moving to Hobart in Van Diemens Land in Sep 1807, being granted 30 Acres at Argyle in the Derwent Valley.
