On Thursday arrived from Calcutta, via Derwent, the ship Mary, Captain Ormon, with a various cargo. -Passengers from Calcutta, Captain Faithfull and Lieutenant Hamilton:-The Mary sailed from Calcutta the 23d of February, and left the Pilot the 1st of March. Crime: Stealing wood from William Scott (miller) and Francis Chastney (wheelwright) of Foulsham, Norfolk. Initial sentence: Seven years transportation. Gaoler's report: Character bad, before convicted, married with two children. Annotated: Nil. Petitioner(s): William Scott and Francis Chastney (prosecutors) Grounds for clemency: Acknowledges his offence; if transported he will not have the means to return; his wife and children are destitute.
