Hugh Glacken was convicted at Glasgow for stealing a silk gown. Several previous offences with time in prison. 7yr transportation sentence. To Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'David Lyon' arriving Aug 1830. Single man. Assigned to Mr.T. Reiby. 1832: Neglect of duty. 25 lashes. 1836: Larceny. Committed for trial. En route to Port Arthur Penal settlement, absconded. Term of transportation extended 12 mths. 1837: Free by Servitude. 06/10/1837: Convicted at Launceston, Tasmania for receiving monies. 14yr transportation sentence. Numerous other records of misconduct. Served at Port Arthur. 1847: Convicted of Highway Robbery. 25/11/1847: Executed, at Launceston.
