Convicted the third time for the same offence on 29 December 1847, and spent the next 30 months imprisoned in the Prison Hulk 'Warrior'. His second conviction was also at the Bolton Quarter Sessions for Larceny from a Person, for which he received a seven year sentence on 29 June 1843, aged 16. He was committed to the 'Warrior' from Lincoln Prison. Transported to Tasmania. Other notes on his documents show that he could read, but not write, and that his character was shown to be 'a reputed thief of bad character'.
