At Derby Sessions, ... and George Glew, for stealing from a stall in the market place  in Belper 16lbs of beef, severally transported for the term of 7 years. [The mentioned prisoner though only sixteen years of age is a notorious character;  he was tried and convicted of larceny at the last March assizes, for which he was sentenced six months imprisonment; and the judgment of the Court being pronounced against him on the present occasion, he called out to the Chairman, I wish you may sit there till I come back again.”]   Staffordshire Advertiser, 23 Jan 1819. Convicts. George Pegg, George Glew, John Stamford and John Cooper Kirk have been removed from our county gaol and delivered on board the Justicia Hulk  on the 1st instant, prior to their respective sentences of transportation for seven years each being carried into execution.  Derby Mercury, 4 March 1819.

George Glew/Glue was listed as a runaway convict in the Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser 05.01.1826 Glue George, Atlas (4), 22, Derby, 5 feet 7, hazle eyes, flaxen hair, fair ruddy complexion, from Hyde Park Barracks.

Family connections for George (Glew) are: An amendment added Sep 2025. GLEW George (Glew) was born about 1803. He was tried at Derby Quarter Sessions, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW on 19 10 1819 after a voyage of 4.5monthson ATLAS. He was a nailer when he married Mary (Robinson her second marriage) on 13 3 1826 at St James CofE Sydney. [Some details taken from this Website] Mary Hyndes (Morrison) was born on 12 3 1804 seemingly in Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) & baptised on 10 6 1810 age10 w/Charlotte at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She had a first relationship with John (Grimes his second relationship). Details of Mary Hyndes (Morrison)s family are given in entry for Elizabeth (Matthews KITTY 1792) on this Website.
