When the settlers abondoned Port Phillip, Melbourne, Victoria the ship transferred convicts, settlers and marines to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania). In 1815, 1817 & 1823 the 'Ocean' transported convicts to New South Wales.

GOVERNMENT NOTICE. Colonial Secretary's Office, May 17, 1828 HIS EXCELLENCY the GOVERNOR has been pleased to approve of the following Alterations in the Police of the Colony, viz : Parramatta.- Colin Devan, per Mangles, holding a Ticket of Leave, to be a Constable, in the Room of James Gould, per Ocean (2,) holding a Ticket of Leave; dismissed for Neglect of Duty; to bear Date the 5th Instant. ------------------------------------------------ Howevber, he was soon reappointed at Cooke. ------------------------------------------------ Government Notice. Colonial Secretary's Office, 9th January,1829. HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the following Alterations in the Police of the Colony ; namely - Cooke - James Gould, per Ocean (2), holding a Ticket of Leave, to be Ordinary Constable, from the 1st December, 1828.
