Convict Notes
William Goodger was 22 years old on arrival in VDL. He had dark hazel eyes, brown complexion, very dark brown hair, 5'8 1/2" tall, heart inside right arm W G back of right wrist, O inside left arm, and he was single. 1838: AWOL - Solitary 24/12/1838: Bonney/ Disobeying orders and neglect of duty - 25 lashes. 16/4/1840: Clayton/ neglect of duty and disobedience - 14 days ???(hard to read). 27/6/1840: TOL 8/6/1841: Misconduct in maliciously injuring a butt by shooting at him with a musket - ??? Hard Labour. 1842: COF. 9/11/1843: He was free and was given permission to marry Catherine Dawson (per Garland Grove). Catherine was born either 1796 in Dumfries or another record says 1807, was a farm servant, transported for Larceny/stealing a shawl. Could not find a date of death.
