Somersetshire assizes. FOURTEEN YEARS. Ellen Gordon and William Walker, stealing 9s. 6d. Taunton Courier, 24 April 1833. Last week the following Convicts were removed from the Gaol at llchester : … Sarah Laphain, Sarah Hanger, Mary Ann Mullins, Catharine Bullinger, Ellen Gordon, Charlotte Herley, Amelia Hayball, Joan Hancock, and Ann Bradford, to the ship, William Bryan, lying off Woolwich, bound for New South Wales ; Bath Chronicle, 13 June 1833. Tasmanian Records. Conduct Record: https://libraries.tas.gov.au/Digital/CON40-1-3/CON40-1-3P279 No 138. Ellen Gordon. Tried Somerset, 28 Mar 1833, 14 years. Transported for steling 9/6 from th person. Gaol report. As far as known believed to be good and well behaved in prison. Married, 3 children Stated this offence, Picking pockets, Stg 18s. Widow, 3 children. My husband has been dead 9 years. I lived since with a man for 2 years. Surgeon’s report, Very good. CP approved July 1845.
