NATIVE PLACE: Harden, Yorkshire. TRADE: Groom and wool comber. CRIME: Manslaughter of William Colding (tried 22 March 1834). Thomas Gordon describes the circumstances of William Colding's death in his VDL Conduct Record: "We were at a public house together. I was fighting another man; it was said I punched Colding who was not in the row." (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-16$init=CON31-1-16p166) 1842: Granted Free Certificate No 80.
