Significant because it was the first ship to bring all female women to the Colony.

Text type Trial account Defendants ELIZABETH GOSLING Offences Theft > Theft from place Session Date 24th October 1787 Reference Number t17871024-48 Verdicts Guilty Punishments Transportation 859. ELIZABETH GOSLING was indicted for stealing, on the 14th of September , one cotton bed quilt, value 18 d. a linen sheet, value 6 d. the property of Bridget Ryan , widow , in a lodging-room . BRIDGET RYAN sworn. I let a ready-furnished lodging to the prisoner, at 3 s. a week, in Short's garden ; I believe it is three weeks ago I missed the things in the indictment; they were part of the furniture that was let; I saw them the day she took the lodging. WILLIAM THURSTON sworn. I am servant to a pawnbroker; I produced a sheet and quilt that were pawned by a girl; I know the girl; she is not here; I do not know where to find her; they were pawned the 13th of August, and the 14th of September; they have been in my possession ever since. (Deposed to.) THOMAS MANS sworn. I apprehended the prisoner, and found four duplicates upon her; I have two of them. PRISONER's DEFENCE. I gave her one part of her property in the office; I never gave up my apartment till she took me to the office. GUILTY . Transported for seven years . Tried by the first Middlesex Jury, before Mr. Justice HEATH.




Elizabeth Goslin(g) was sentenced to 7 years transportation on 24 Oct 1787 at the Old Bailey for stealing a cotton bed quilt and a linen sheet, she married Daniel Spencer (Charlotte 1788) on 26 Sep 1790 at Rose Hill, NSW.
