AUGUST 16. At ten o’clock this morning Mr. Justice Burton entered the Court, when the following prisoners were tried : Thomas Grady, for cow-stealing. James Perkins sworn— Witness lives in Drombane; lost a cow on the 11th of May ; got his cow afterwards in the fair of Bawn, with Denis Egan ; the fair was the next morning ; the fair was 25 miles from his place. Patrick O'Brien, Policeman, sworn—He apprehended the prisoner; witness told him, that if he had any accomplices he ought to exculpate himself. Mr. Bennett.—You did what you ought not to do. Denis Egan sworn—Witness saw Perkins at Bawn; saw prisoner there ; prisoner is married to his grandaughter ; drove a cow for the prisoner to the fair; prisoner brought the cow to him that morning; prisoner desired him to bring the cow for him. Perkins again examined—The cow found with Egan was his. Denis ? Egan—lt was little boy brought him the cow; prisoner desired him afterwards take care of the cow. Sir H. Carden sworn—Witness was brought before him, as a magistrate; he has no recollection of what was said. Upon being desired by the Court to say anything he thought proper in his own defence. Prisoner—l have nothing to say to them, my Lord, and I hope they have nothing to say to me. Guilty—Sentence of death recorded. Tipperary Free Press, 18 Aug 1827.
