1848 - 21 Nov. Birth of daughter. Catherine Graham. Baptised 10 January 1849 in the Female House of Correction. Hobart Town 1854 - Birth of Mary Ann [Bailey] approx. 1856 - 16 November. Death of Jane Graham, aged 42 years old. Cause of death; Cancer 1859 - Inquest. Charles Nichols. 26 April 1859. Fell to the ground and the engine passed over the body & received a moral rupture. Aged; 40 years old. Trade; Plasterer died 22 April 1859. 1862 - Queen's Orphan School. Application for admission by The Rev Hunter. 1 October 1862. CHILD; Mary Ann Bailey or Nichols aged 8 years & 2 months FATHER; John Bailey. Residence; Goal Hobart. Tiger nearly 30 days since. Arrived; Free. Occupation; Seaman Conditional Pardon from Colonial Life Sentence MOTHER; Jane Graham or Nichols. DEAD Ship; William Brian - 1833. Certificate or Pardon. September 1847 DIED; in the General Hospital on the 16 November 1856. Her husband; Nichols was killed in Hobart Town by being run over by a fire engine some 2 - 3 years since. The man Bailey has had the child for some years & states that it is his child by Mrs. Nicholls or Graham. He is now in goal in default of sureties of 6 months for assaulting his wife. She has gone into service of a Mrs. at Bothwell her character is not of the best. [Stepmother deserted the child] The child is now with a man named Bennett at Woody's Row, Liverpool Street, but Bennett & his wife are drunken depraved people ... .
