Stamford Mercury Lincolnshire, England 18 Jul 1834: James Gregory, aged 30, for stealing, at Alford, a purse containiung 3 sovereigns and some silver, the property of Matthew Ironmonger ; __guilty, 7 years' transportation. James Gregory was listed as 28 years old on arrival. Native Place: Lincolnshire. Occupation: Farm servant/gardener's labourer. James could read, was single, 5'5ΒΌ" tall, dark complexion, brown hair, bluish eyes, scar back of fore, middle and fourth fingers of left hand. 13/7/1841: COF 1/4/1849: James Gregory died. Convict Death Register: District/Parish: Queenbeyan. Vide letter 51/2768; date given April 1849.
