Mr. Daniel Griffin, one of the oldest residents of the district, died on Saturday last at his residence, Smith-street, at the advanced age of 90 years, the actual cause of death being senile decay. The old gentleman enjoyed the best of health up to about six months ago, since when he gradually became weaker until Saturday, when he peacefully passed away. Eight daughters and three sons are left to mourn their loss. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, Rev. G. D'Arcy-Irvine officiating at the grave at the Church of England Cemetery. Illawarra Mercury, Wed 6 Jan 1904.
