On Thursday arrived from Calcutta, via Derwent, the ship Mary, Captain Ormon, with a various cargo. -Passengers from Calcutta, Captain Faithfull and Lieutenant Hamilton:-The Mary sailed from Calcutta the 23d of February, and left the Pilot the 1st of March. 1825, 3 February: Thomas GROGAN – Certificate of Freedom #4/3127 – convicted Meath, Spring 1818, 7 years; native place Dublin; labourer; 36, 5’5”, ruddy complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes. Notation: Torn up 19 March 1825 having been returned mutilated and replaced with Certificate #167/3395 (see NSW, Australia, Certificates of Freedom, 1810-1814, 1827-1867). 1825: Thomas GROGAN – free by servitude – Mary 1819, “cleared out for Java” (see NSW and Tasmania, Australia Convict Musters, 1806-1849, New South Wales General muster A-L 1825).


1819, 25 August: Thomas GROGAN – convicted Meath, Spring 1818; life; native place Dublin; labourer; 30, 5’5½”; dark ruddy complexion, black hair and hazel eyes (see NSW Convict Indents, 1788-1842; Bound Indentures 1818-1819). Note: Different records give different ages/dates of birth for Thomas GROGAN. For example, the Ship's Muster says he was 24 in 1819, compared with 30 years old on the 1819 Indentures record. His Certificate of Freedom, granted in 1825, lists him as 36 years old. Both the Cert of Freedom and his Indentures record point to a birth year of 1798/99.


1818, 26 July: Admitted to Kilmainham Gaol from County of Meath; prisoner #3943 (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924; Dublin Kilmainham 1815-1910).
