John Hadley was 19 years old on arrival in VDL and was transported for “Stealing a silk handkerchief from a line at Wolverhampton". John was 5’7” tall, could read, single protestant, fair complexion, brown hair blue eyes. Father: John Mother: Elizabeth – at Wolverhampton Brothers: William, Joseph. Sisters: Mary Ann, Maria. 20/2/1846: TOL 5/3/1847: COF 16/12/1850: Married Susannah Gordon in Melbourne. Susannah was born C1834 in Armagh and arrived per ‘Diadem’ at the age of 16 as a Female Orphan Immigrant on 1/1/1850. Susannah died 25/9/1888 – they had 12 children. 1841: John’s occupation was a Whitesmith. 17/9/1891: John died in Bairnsdale, Victoria and was buried at Maffra Cemetery next to his wife.
