Convict Notes

The Cornwall Chronicle. Sat 10 Apr 1852. Page 226 SUPREME COURT. Tuesday, April 6. Samuel Haines was arraigned at the bar charged with Committing a rape upon the body of Helen M'Namara, on the 17th March, at Brickenden; the nature of the evidence precludes its publication ; the trial occupied nearly the whole day, and terminated in the conviction of the prisoner upon the clearest evidence. The prisoner when called upon, had nothing to say why the extreme penalty of the law should not be carried into execution, and was sentenced to death without hope of mercy.
