Crime: Horse-stealing from James Brown of Wednesbury [Staffordshire]. Initial sentence: Transportation for life. Annotated (Outcome): Considered by Lord Sidmouth 7 January 1821 [1822] Nil. Petitioner(s): Two petitions from Thomas Sanders, Mayor of Stratford upon Avon and family friend undersigned by seven principal inhabitants. James Brown, prosecutor. Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): His first offence; he is sincerely penitent; he was tried and convicted before his friends knew of it and were thus unable to give him a character reference; the distress of his afflicted mother. Additional Information: Held on board Justitia convict hulk at Woolwich. Date: 1821 Dec 18-1822 Feb 1.
