George Hames was 58 years old on arrival in NSW. 3/5/1839: Tried at Sydney for Stealing from a dwelling house and sentenced to 10 years transportation. Sent to Norfolk Island. 26/7/1845: Arrived VDL per Governor Phillip. George was described as: Aged 68, Protestant, can read a little, single, 5'4 1/2" tall, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, black whiskers, blue eyes, bald on top of his head, short sighted, stout made, tattoos. 20/10/1846: TOL 1851: Tried at Hobart - found no records of trial. 15/7/1852: Free Certificate. 6/10/1864: George died at Port Arthur.
