c1812 - Ann Hamilton was born c1812, probably in Dublin. ======================================== 1830 to 1831 - Ann HAMILTON was aged 17 when she arrived as a convict per ship "Kains". in 1831. She had been tried at Liverpool in 1830 & had a 7 year sentence for "larceny from a person". (Source: England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892 & "Convicts to Port Jackson 1788-1842, CD-ROM by Lesley Uebel) The ship "Kains, sailed from London with 120 female convicts in 1830. 2 died during the voyage & the ship docked at Sydney. Captain Wm. L. Goodwin was in charge & the surgeoun was Dr Thrasycles Clarke. The ship had left London on 8/7/1830 & the trip took 246 days, quite a long time. The reute was via Teneriffe & the Cape. She had arrived as a convict in 1831 on the ship Kains, a native of Dublin, a protestant, occupation servant, sent to the “3rd Class” for 6 weeks, crime not stated. She had arrived as a convict in 1831 on the ship Kains, a native of Dublin, a Catholic, occupation housemaid, sent to the “3rd Class” for 6 weeks at the Female Factory, Parramatta, crime not stated.
