The Irish Convict Database refers to an earlier conviction for Robert. Was this Robert Hamilton’s previous conviction?? Robert Hamilton (a little boy), was indicted for stealing two sheep the property of Geo. M’Fall. Geo. McFall —On Dec. two sheep were stolen from witness ; saw them in the forenoon on his own field ; missed them in the evening, lives miles from Portglenone. Mr. Scullion—saw the prisoner driving two sheep towards Portglenone; informed McFall of the circumstance. In answer a question from prisoner, he acknowledged that he was tried at last Assizes for sheep stealing, but was acquitted. Geo. again called, said, that, in consequent of information, had prisoner taken into custody at Portglenone, when Scullion identified him.— Guilty. Belfast Commercial Chronicle, 29 March 1828.




County of Antrim Assizes. … Robert Hamilton, for stealing a pound weight of sugar, at Ballymena, on the 28th January last, the property of Robt. Mcilroy; and on another count, for stealing two pair of shoes, the property Arthur Macauley. Guilty in both cases; to be transported. Belfast Commercial Chronicle, 14 March 1832.
