James Hamlin was 29 years old on arrival in VDL. He was born in Arckland, Devonshire and was transported for 'Stealing oats from my master William Pritham. Previous convictions for taking a comb - 2 months. James was 5'6" tall, sallow complexion, black hair, blue eyes, could read and write, single, protestant. Occupation: Pitsawyer/groom. Father: Daniel Mother: Ann - at native place Brothers: William, John Sisters: Eliza, Maryann, Elizabeth. Probation: 18 months at Browns River 5/3/1850: TOL 14/9/1852: TOL revoked for being absent from muster. 18/1/1853: TOL Restored.
