The ‘Guildford’ was built on the River Thames, England in 1810. Used as a Convict Transport ship to Australia - voyages 1812, 1816, 1818, 1820, 1822, 1824, 1827 & 1829. The ship was lost at sea near Singapore in 1831, loosing all aboard.

He was tried w/3others for stealing wick yarn of Samuel (Lefevre) at Warwick Assizes, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW on 8 1 1819 oafter a voyage of 4months on GLOBE. He was a blacksmith when he married firstly as an emancipist Mary Ann (Porter age16) on 7 3 1825 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. On 16 11 1825 his brother was assigned to him. James Mears, Benjamin Hanslow, John Robinson, Henry Hobbins, Susannah Evans, and Ann Pope, for a burglary in the house of Joseph Waring, in Birmingham - [The above six offenders formed a desperate gang of housebreakers]. The death penalty was reprieved to a sentence of Transportation for Life. Benjamin arrived in New South Wales in March 1824 and joined his elder brother Peter who had been transported for 7 years for theft in 1817.
