Mary Ann Harris was convicted at Bodmin, Cornwall for larceny - stealing boots. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Duchess of Northumberland' arriving 21 April 1853. Ship Surgeon's Report: Good, industrious. Single; aged 24yrs; 5'4"; nursery maid. Native place - near Cornwall. Assignments in Colony, including Flinders Island. 12 June 1855 Ticket of Leave granted. 7 July 1855 Married Thomas Barker at Kingston, Hobart. 22 July 1856 Conditional Pardon granted. 8 Dec 1859 Certificate of Freedom
