The connection of this convict to Joseph Harrison who died in Bendigo in 1854, is confirmed by the mention of his convict status when Joseph Harrison was tried in 1852 for shooting at Margaret Barrett with intent to kill. His Tasmanian convict past is mentioned in the dispositions of several witnesses. Source: VPRS 30 at Public Record Office of Victoria

On his Death Certificate # 4758 under the Heading: "Where born and how long in the Australian Colonies, stating which" it is written: 'Yorkshire England - Fifteen years in Victoria'. 22 June 1838 is the last date shown on his convict record. Yet to locate record of travel from Van Diemens Land to Victoria.

Although there appears fairly strong circumstantail evidence, there is yet no cited documentary evidence that this convict Joseph Harrison is the man who died in Back Creek on 29 Sep 1854. That man's death certificate shows no time spent in Tasmania.
