Family connections for William (Hartell) are: HARTE/ILL William (Hartell) was tried probably at Old Bailey, sentenced to Life, held at London Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 11 1826 after a voyage of 3.5months on SPEKE. He had been issued his Ticket of Leave when given permission, in October 1837, to marry Margaret (Grey/Gray Free by Servitude), which he did in 1838-perhaps her second marriage. [Some details taken from this Website] Margaret (Grey/Gray) was born about 1804 in Dublin Ireland & became a housemaid. She was tried for theft of a coat at Dublin in 1829 &, with 2previous convictions, was sentenced to 7years. She arrived in NSW as a convict on 13 1 1830 after a voyage of 4months on ASIA; she was Catholic. She received permission, on 25 4 1831, to marry Samuel (Vaughan) and may have done so-perhaps his & her first marriage. She was issued her Certificate of Freedom no.39/2347 on 26 12 1839.
