The ship arrived in NSW on the 13th September 1826.
James aged 14 when he was convicted for steeling a fur cap on the 18 October 1824 Session at the Borough of Leeds, Yorkshire and was first imprisoned at York Castle before being transferred on 11 November 1824 to the hulk ‘Ganymede’ at Chatham, Kent. ***************** Leeds Intelligencer - October 21, 1824 page 3. JAMES HAWKINS - 14, stealing a fur and leather cap from the stall of Mr. Bradbury in Cross Parish on 18th September. Prisoner on being asked his defence said "I shall never be right till I get transported". It appears this is an old offender, having been several times convicted. Sentenced to Transportation -. Court expressed an intention to apply to the Secretary of State for his admission to the Penitentiary. *************** Prison remarks has 'has been twice convicted of felony - a very forward and hardened boy'.
