They married on 21st June 1852 at St Joseph's, Hobart, and had 3 daughters. Maria was born on 9th May 1853 in Hobart, Winifred on 5th August 1855 in Hamilton, and Mary on 14th November 1857 in Hobart. On 14th September 1869, William Hayes was tried at the Supreme Court, Hobart, for "unlawfully and indecently assaulting his daughters Winifred and Mary Hayes, aged respectively fourteen and eleven years." He was found guilty and sentenced to 2 years imprisonment. Winifred married Edward Francis Parker of Oatlands on 14th March 1881 and they lived in Oatlands until he died of typhoid fever on 5th April 1890 leaving Winifred with 5 children. Later the same year, on 15th August 1890, Winifred, who was now 35, married 19-year-old William Nicholas Lopez at Holy Trinity. They moved to Melbourne and their son Roy William Nicholas Lopez was born at Collingwood on 3rd July 1891. Apparently the marriage wasn't a success as a couple of years later the young husband abandoned his wife and returned to Tasmania. Unfortunately, he took his small son with him. Winifred never saw the child again. She remained in Melbourne, reverted to the surname Parker, and raised her other 5 children there. She died in Melbourne in 1913. https://www.orphanschool.org.au/showorphan.php?orphan_ID=2460
