Thomas Haynes was convicted at Middlesex, London on the 05/07/1832 for stealing a hat. Gaol Report: imprisoned twice before. 7yr transportation sentence. Hulk Report: Twice punished and once put in solitary confinement. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Moffatt, arriving 09/05/1834. Ship's Surgeon's Report: Behaved well. Aged 18yrs; painter & glazier; single man; 5'0 1/2"; tatoos; fresh complexion; Hazel eyes; light brown hair. Assignments in Colony. 1835: Public Works 1836: Suspicion of being in contact with Bushrangers. Recommended he be transferred to other side of island. 1837: Suspicion of felony. Discharged. 1837: Insolent & disobedient - Reprimanded. 1838: Ticket of Leave granted.
