I think that the convict William Hazlewood was not born in Mollington, Oxfordshire. According to the parish records for All Saints, Mollington, William Hazlewood was buried 5/4/1794 there.

William Hazlewood was born 1748, baptized June 26, 1748 at Mollington, Oxfordshire, son of Thomas and Hannah Hazlewood nee Hayward. Thomas and Hannah had a son born earlier, William born 1745 who was baptized 17 Nov 1745 but he died and was buried on 13 April 1746 at Mollington. William born 1748 was named for him. William was convicted at Kent of stealing a bay horse from John Winder and instead of being sentenced to death for what would have been a capital crime, a petition on his behalf dated 14 April 1790 gave him clemency conditioned upon being transported for 7 years. He was transported on the William and Ann with 188 convicts to Port Jackson (and ultimately Norfolk Island) departing Plymouth 24 March 1791 an anchoring at Port Jackson's Sydney Cove on 28 August 1791. He had only one child, Maria born on Norfolk Island 1795 to Elizabeth Hopper, wife and Lady Juliana convict who died on NI. He departed NI for Tasmania with Maria 3 Sep 1808 and was granted land at Back River in kind for land he held on NI. He was buried at New Norfolk 9 Dec. 1836. William Hazlewood Park at Magra (formerly Back River) is named for him.

William Hazlewood spent 1791-1808 on Norfolk Island. He was granted 5 acres of land there in 1802. When Norfolk Island was abandoned he arrived in Tasmania on 3 Oct 1808 on board the City of Edinburgh. He farmed in the Back River, New Norfolk, area of Tasmania. He had one known child, Maria Hopper Hazlewood (1795-1880).
