https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON13-1-2$init=CON13-1-2p74 The following man arrived per ship Sea Flower, master, William Spiers, from Calcutta in 1820, and now embarked on the ship Guildford for public service in V.D. Land. John Head (later note added to record:1825/413 – this may refer to his eventual certificate of Freedom), tried at Meerut ( East Indies) ( Ct. Marl.) 17 Nov 1818, sentence 7 years. Age 24, native of Co. Tipperary, formerly in the 8th Dragoons, 5 ft 5 ¼ ; blue eyes, black hair dark sallow complexion. Note below explains that John Head was added to this list of 250 men, in the place of another convict who has been ordered to public service elsewhere. Dated 16 Oct 1820

Tas Rec. John Head, No.226, Sea Flower, 17 Nov 1818, 7 yr. Conduct report – he was a constable, but was dismissed from his situation as he was in charge, allowing Henry Ridge, a convict to escape from Macq. harbor, June 11 1823, and was sent back to Macq harbour for the remainder of his sentence. HEAD, John. Per "Sea Flower", 1820 1820 May 2 - Convict arrived from India per "Sea Flower" (Reel 6007; 4/3502 p.14) 1820 Oct 14 - Re transfer to Van Diemen's Land (Reel 6007; 4/3502 p.345) 1824 Feb 9 -On list of prisoners in Van Diemen's Land claiming expiration of sentence (Reel 6019; 4/3522 p.11) John Head, aged 24, a native of Tipperary, arrived in the Sea Flower in 1820, with other convicts from India, which arrived 30 April from Calcutta. He was a soldier, and was tried at Meeret Court Martial, India, in 1818, and sentenced to 7 years transportation. Â
