1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

The Convict Indentures state that Patrick Hearty was 50 years old. He could read and write; religion Roman Catholic; status married with 2 sons and 2 daughters and a native of County Tipperary. He was carpenter (tolerable). Patrick was convicted of manslaughter on 16 March 1836 at Cork City and sentenced to 7 years. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 3 1/4 inches; complexion ruddy; hair brown mixed with grey and eyes grey to bluish. Transport number 100. Prisoner number 36-1903. 1837 NSW Muster states that Thomas was assigned to the Government in Sydney. Convict Death register states that Patrick Harty (waterloo (4)) died on 12 December 1846. He died at Port Macquarie and was described as an invalid. Please note variation in spelling of surname Hearty on indentures and NSW Death Register while Harty is used in Convict Death Register.
